Who should take the comprehensive cosmetic laser training course?

Any person who plans to operate a cosmetic laser should enroll for the comprehensive laser training course at NIMA’s laser institute. Most states mandate a minimum amount of training for laser operators.

The comprehensive cosmetic laser training course is open to any person who is legally allowed to perform these services within their state of licensure. Common participants include MD, DO, APRN, PA, RN, ME and MA. Some states do not require a professional license to operate cosmetic lasers, instead they require a minimum number of laser training hours.

Certification from the cosmetic laser training course does not imply that you are legally licensed to perform such procedures within your state. NIMA recommends that you research your state’s licensing and supervision requirements prior to enrollment.

If you are a prospective student, interested in the NIMA’s 1200 or 750-hour Master Aesthetics program, you do not need to enroll in this course. This curriculum is included within the 1200 and 750-hour courses.

If you are planning on becoming a medical director or supervisor, we recommend that you also consider the Medical Director Certification and cosmetic injections course.
