Does CoolSculpting Arms Work?

Posted by Nima | September 24, 2020

Confidence is important. Not only that, it’s allowed! Gone are the days of sidestepping compliments and hiding our beauty and wellness routinesToday is all about ownership—ownership over our life, our body and our choices. And now that the need for secrecy around self-care is over, and honesty about our individuality is in, we can finally bring up (sans shame) what we’ve all been dying to discuss…

Arm fat!

That’s totally what you were thinking, right? Great! Because we’re going to look into one innovative method that’s been growing in popularity, and in particular, how this method might just be the perfect solution for pesky arm fat.

Hooray for CoolSculpting

The aforementioned innovative method everyone is talking about is called CoolSculpting More than one million treatments have been performed worldwide! So, it would not be surprising if you have already heard of it and its noteworthy success in helping people get rid of troublesome fatIn a nutshell, CoolSculpting is an FDA approved, non-surgical treatment that uses Cryolipolysiswhich is process that uses cold temperatures to target and eliminate unwanted fat cells that have not responded to exercise or eating regiments. Almost sounds too easy to be true, right? Allow us to expand.

Many of us have areas on the body where fat simply refuses to go away. No matter how many diets you go on, or how many sit ups, pull ups, whatever-ups you do, the stubborn fat stays right in placeThis can be maddening, especially when you’ve been busting your bum to get your your body where you want it to be. CoolSculpting is the non-invasive solution to this common and infuriating issue. No, that was not a typo… non-invasive, meaning no needles, no incisions, no anesthesia! Rather, the treatment works by positioning the device to the area of concern and applying controlled cooling for an extended period of time in order to remove the previously impossible to remove fat.

No Pain, No Weight Gain

One of the awesome things about CoolSculpting is that, unlike many other fat removal treatments, there is minimal discomfort. At the start of the process, you there will be some pressure and intense coldness. As time passes, this will likely go away because, as we know, coldness causes numbing! Many people will read a book, play around on their phone or even nap during their treatment sessions. After the session is finished, the side effects are limited and mild, especially in comparison to invasive treatments like liposuction. Temporary numbness, swelling, redness, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain is not uncommon and may occur.

Because the treatment is nonsurgical, there is little to no recovery period, and what little recovery there is typically proves quite tame. A lot of people will find that they’re perfectly comfortable enough to jump right back into their daily routine with virtually zero downtime in between. That being said, heading home to relax after a treatment is certainly an option if that’s what floats your boat. After all, this is all about living your best life, however that may look to you!

After treatments are completedthere is no lifestyle or dietary requirements, and no need to take any medications or supplements. Rather, the frozen fat cells will eventually die off on their own and be eliminated by the body. Typically, people will see results in as little as three weeks and see the most dramatic results around two months. That being said, everybody is different, so it’s safe to say results can appear for up to six months after treatment. Because the cells in that area were killed, the results are permanent. Once the fat cells are treated and flushed out, fat will not return to that specific area. If you do gain weight down the road, it may spread out evenly over the body. Howevermany people find after seeing the results of their treatment that their even more motivated to take care of their body.

What About Arms?!

Okay, okay… we’ll get to the good stuff. We now know that CoolSculpting works by freezing (or crystallizing if we want to get all scientific with it) fat cells, essentially causing them to die off and eventually disappear (kind of like magic, if we want to get all poetic with it). Since fat cells do not vary in cellular structure from body part to body part, this means that CoolSculpting’s effects can work anywhere on the body where there are fat cells! So, in short—yes, CoolSculpting can work on arms so long as there are fat cells to freeze.

Currently, CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared for treating the flank (“love handles”), abdomen and thigh area. However, many places do treat the arms and use a smaller device to do so, as it is most certainly legal to treat arms as well. With CoolSculpting, the amount of sessions and how long each one lasts can vary based on the area being treated and how much fat you desire to remove. With arms, however, the typical length of time is around thirty-five minutes.

Will CoolSculpting Work for Me?

To find out whether you qualify, make a consultation. Typically, the best candidates for CoolSculpting, are healthy people who have a routine in place, but are unable to get rid of those stubborn fat areas despite this. As mentioned above, side effects are minimal. However, there are a few rare side effects related to people with specific conditions, namely cryoglobulinemia, Raynaud’s disease (or a sensitivity to coldness), and paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. For a very rare few, something called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia can occur. This is essentially when a paradoxical reaction happens causing fat cells to enlarge, rather than the body flushing them out.

This is why it is important to disclose your health history before any treatments. That way, during your free consultation, we will be able to guide you on whether or not you are a viable candidate. Furthermore, it is always recommended to speak to a medical professional or your primary care before committing to any new treatments, to ensure CoolSculpting is a safe choice for you. But how much does CoolSculpting cost?
