Does CoolSculpting work on the stomach?

Posted by Nima | December 11, 2020

Just about everyone has that trouble area. That one spot on their body that, no matter what they do, they just can’t get that fat to go away. For many, that spot is on there stomach. It’s really common to get a little pouch there that feels like it can’t be gotten rid of. But there may actually be a way to get rid of it. And this way doesn’t involve having to do a million crunches or having to drink a gross smoothie that more-than-likely doesn’t actually do anything. This treatment that we’re talking about is backed by science and the Food and Drug Administration. It is CoolSculpting.

But this may seem a little odd at first. Odds are, you’ve heard of CoolSculpting Salt Lake City in reference to arms and chins. But CoolSculpting can work on your stomach. We’ll explain it all to you, but first, let’s talk about how CoolSculpting works.

How does CoolSculpting work?

Every living thing has a freezing point. This is a temperature that is so cold that the living thing dies. And when we say, “every living thing,” we mean every living thing. Even the individual cells in your body, including fat cells. In fact, fat cells freeze at a much warmer temperature than any of the cells that surround it. This means that a temperature that kills fat is barely noticeable to skin and muscle cells. This is how CoolSculpting works, by freezing fat cells, but leaving the rest untouched.

The fact that the other cells are untouched by the CoolSculpting is part of the reason why is stands out from other weight loss treatments. Things like liposuction are intrusive. As a result, they cause damage to the surrounding areas. This means you need time to recover and you may even end up with scars. CoolSculpting couldn’t be more different. The surrounding areas won’t need any time to heal. Once your CoolSculpting session is over, that’s it. You’re done and you can go on with your day. Plus, there is no lasting marks to show where you had the sculpting done. There may be some redness, swelling, and even bruising in the place that you had the CoolSculpting done, but they fade not long after your final session.

Speaking of CoolSculpting sessions, let’s talk a little bit about how those work. It begins with your CoolSculpting technician placing a protective pad on your target area. This pad is to help keep your skin from being exposed to too much cold. While its freezing temperature is much colder than fat’s, it’s still good to have this added protection. Then the technician puts the CoolSculpting applicator in place and sets it to run for a predetermined period of time (we’ll get into how the time is determined later). During this time, you can do what ever you like, as long as it keeps you in the chair. Then once the time is over, the technician turns off the applicator and removes it. After that, they massage the target area. This is to help break up the frozen cells and speed up their expulsion. Once all of that is done, you can get back to your life.

While CoolSculpting sessions are relatively quick, the results of CoolSculpting take much longer. It’s not uncommon to not see any real results for several weeks. CoolSculpting can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to actually take effect, depending on the area and how much fat is there. This is because the body works rather slowly and takes a minute (or several) to notice when a cell has died. Then it needs time to get rid of the dead cell. So, remember to be patient after your sessions are over.

Since we are talking about some of the important facts of CoolSculpting, let’s touch on another thing that everyone should know. CoolSculpting is not for everyone. It is mainly designed to help people who are near the end of their weight loss journey. They are almost at their target weight but need a bit of a hand getting rid of those last little pockets of fat. This means that if you are severely overweight or have been diagnosed with obesity, then CoolSculpting likely will not work for you.
