Peel off the Past

Posted by Nima | April 26, 2021

The past is something that none of us can run away from. Sometimes you don’t want to run from your past because it brings you joy. Other times, like when you lathered your body in baby oil by the pool every day when you were a teen? Well, maybe you’d like to run away from that. Not that it was a terrible time but because of what it did to your skin. At the time you were youthful and had a glowing sun-kissed face. Now? Well, you’re here looking for a solution to the number the sun did on your skin. There is no fix-all when it comes to skin and that’s why there are many options available for you to choose from. One may work better than the other. We are here to help you decide what type of treatment may work better for your skin. In the specific article we will help you understand what chemical peels are. We’ll also explain each of our chemical peels in hopes that you choose NIMA to help you peel off the past.

Why peels?

Why choose a chemical peel? A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment. Our chemical peels range from mild to aggressive, depending on which you choose. Chemical peels cannot completely remove your unwanted scars, wrinkles, or tighten sagging skin, but they can improve the look at feel of them. We all want to be radiant and glowing. Sometimes they can help improve some of the luster that you lost. Peels aren’t for everyone, unfortunately, those who have very sensitive skin should consider a different type of treatment.

NIMA’s chemical peels

What type of peels do we offer here at NIMA? Well, take a look! If you don’t know which to choose, call us and we’ll schedule a consultation, free of charge.

Vitalize: If your skin is prone to acne, or is sun damaged, or needs some anti-aging, or you have melisma. The Vitalize Peel contains a proprietary blend of ingredients to help rejuvenate the skin.

TCA: Trichloroacetic Acid aka TCA peels are of medium depth and more aggressive than others. TCA’s are used to improve and control pigmentation, acne, and wrinkles.

Salicylic: This peel is great for acne prone skin. This one will detoxify the pores while absorbing excess oil and oxygenate the skin. Say goodbye to bad breakouts!

Rejuvenize: This peel treatment combines resorcinol, lactic, salicylic, and retinoic acid that gives positive effects in texture and tone. This process stimulates a 55% increase in collagen production, improves pigmentation, acne, and melisma. You’ll leave with renewed, glowing skin.

Pigment Balancing: This peel was made to brighten and lighten your skin pigmentation. Your skin will look more even and toned.

Lactic: Hyper pigmentation? No problem. This Lactic Acid Peel brightens the skin while providing peeling action. It will also moisturize, begin healing and will also protect the skin.

Glycolic: When we combine Glycolic and Lactic Acids, you’ll get some anti-aging and skin rejuvenation. This peel is infused with aloe vera, chamomile, ginseng, and orange blossom. This peel improves the skin appearance by minimizing fine lines and stimulating the cell turnover.

Chocolate: Antioxidant means anti-aging. In this chocolate peel we combine lactic acid, natural extracts from cocoa and acai berry. This combination is used to give anti-aging skin and restorative benefits.

Brightening: This is our most gentle peel. It is a one-hour long therapeutic peel made to be an effective exfoliation treatment, a deep cleanser, and will stimulate toning while giving the best hydration.

Advanced Corrective: This peel diminishes the appearance of discoloration amazingly. While doing that it also gives a smoothing texture and refines the appearance of pores. You will leave with a more radiant and clarified skin tone.

5 Berry Fruit: This peel is an effective photo-aging antioxidant therapy.  It prevents collagen destruction! This one is on the lighter side and is super refreshing. It has five different berries including cranberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, and bearberry.

We know, how do you choose from all of these great options? Well, give us a call for a free consultation. Our experts will be able to choose the best chemical peel for your skin needs.

Are there side effects?

Now, while chemical peels are generally safe there are some side effects that you should be aware of:

  • Redness/scabbing/swelling: The entire purpose of a chemical peel is to get your skin a fresh new look, however, it’s called a peel for a reason. You may experience some redness but that is only temporary. Scabbing and swelling may also occur but this will only happen if it is done incorrectly.
  • Darkening/lightening of skin: This side effect is more common with people who have a darker skin tone.
  • Possible infection: Those who have the herpes simplex may get a flare-up post treatment. Those, of course, go away. There is a very rare possibility that you may get a bacterial or fungal infection.
  • Liver/heart/kidney damage: The phenol that is used in really deep chemical peels has been known to cause the muscles in the heart and kidney/liver damage. Again, this is a rare side effect.

Side effects are normal with any type of treatment. We didn’t use this to scare you but to make you aware and well educated on the matter. If we don’t think that you’re right for a certain treatment, we’ll let you know. We won’t leave you wishing you’d not gone through the chemical peel.
